Comparing prices across different pharmacies can also help you find more affordable options.
How much does Amzeeq cost if you have insurance?
Insurance coverage for Amzeeq varies depending on your specific plan. Your out-of-pocket cost will depend on your formulary coverage, deductible, copay, and coinsurance. Contact your insurance provider directly to find out whether Amzeeq is covered under your plan and what your actual cost will be. If your plan does not cover Amzeeq or the copay is high, you can ask your pharmacist to price the generic version, Minocycline HCl Micronized (Acne), or use pharmacy discount programs to compare prices across different locations.

What is Amzeeq used for?
Amzeeq is a topical foam containing minocycline, a tetracycline-class antibiotic, formulated specifically to treat inflammatory acne — the FDA has approved it for non-nodular moderate to severe acne vulgaris in patients 9 and older. It is not an oral antibiotic, and per its FDA label it hasn't been studied or approved for treating infections; its only approved use is acne.
The foam is designed to deliver minocycline directly into the skin's oil glands and hair follicles while limiting how much reaches the bloodstream — systemic absorption after once-daily use has been shown to be low. That distinguishes it from oral minocycline, which is absorbed throughout the body and carries more of the class's systemic risks, such as photosensitivity or tooth discoloration in children.
Even so, Amzeeq is still a tetracycline-class drug, so several of the class's standard precautions still apply: it isn't recommended during pregnancy, and it shouldn't be used in children under 9 because of the risk of permanent tooth discoloration. The foam is also flammable due to its alcohol content, so it should be kept away from open flame or heat while applying and drying.
How Amzeeq works
Reaches the follicle
The foam carries minocycline into the pores and oil glands where acne-causing bacteria and inflammation originate.
Reduces bacteria and inflammation
Minocycline suppresses growth of Cutibacterium acnes and has independent anti-inflammatory effects on the skin.
Fewer new lesions form
Over weeks of daily use, inflammatory bumps and pustules decrease as the follicle environment calms down.
Typical dosage forms & strengths
| Use | Typical adult dose | Form |

| Moderate to severe inflammatory acne (ages 9+) | Apply a thin layer to affected areas once daily | Topical foam (1.5% or 4%) |
